The Chemistry Department at Durham University has a long and prestigious reputation in the field of single crystal x-ray crystallography (SCXRD). As the only technique that allows full structural identification of crystalline materials, SCXRD is essential for a research in numerous fields including materials science, chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering.

At Durham we utilise our state of the art single crystal instruments in collaboration with extensive powder diffraction and solid state NMR facilities to offer full structural analysis to internal and external partners.

Durham University is also home to OlexSys, providing state of the art Crystallographic Software Olex2, as well as the best Laboratory Chemicals Management LabSafe.
